My friend Ann-Marie is a super-sleuth when it comes to finding deals in Victoria. She generously shares her finds with me, and it is my great pleasure to share them with Scrimp or Splurge readers.
Her latest discovery is a program called vsSOUNDCHECK offered through the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. To encourage young people to attend its performances of classical music, pop, and jazz, the VSO offers patrons between 15 and 35 years of age the chance to buy tickets to individual shows for just $12.
That’s a dazzling discount on regular single-ticket prices that typically range from $23 to $80. Even better, those in the targeted age group can buy a pair of tickets at the $12 price, regardless of the age of their chosen companion. And the $12 admission price isn’t strictly for rush seating, either. vsSOUNDCHECK tickets usually are available a week or so before scheduled concerts.
Note that vsSOUNDCHECK tickets are non-refundable, and participants in the program will be required to show proof of age when picking up tickets. For other specific information about vsSOUNDCHECK, see the FAQ here.
To get this terrific bargain, simply sign up online for the vsSOUNDCHECK e-mail newsletter. You’ll then receive a 2010/2011 promotion code that will allow you to take advantage of the special ticket rate.
